Diethoxymethane, also known as Ethylal, abbreviated as DEM,. It has a boiling point of 88°C, a flash point of -5°C, a specific gravity (20°C) of 0.8305, and a solubility in water of 4.4% at 20°C. It exhibits unique properties, including good stability under strongly basic conditions (e.g., with hydroxides, sodium hydride, and Grignard reagents) as well as under weakly acidic conditions, and it is not prone to peroxide formation.
